The new CMCB building
03 Mar 2010 | The Wolfson Foundation have agreed to provide £1 million towards the construction of the new WMS Centre for Mechanochemical Cell Biology (CMCB) on the University's Gibbet Hill site. The contribution from the Wolfson Foundation brings the total build budget to £6.4 million, with £3.4 million from the University of Warwick and £2 million from Advantage West Midlands for Translational Medicine as part of the Science City Project.
Planning permission was recently granted for the CMCB to be built at the end of the new Clinical Trials Unit building, and construction is scheduled to begin in July 2010.
Professor John Davey, Associate Dean for Biomedical Research comments: "One of the goals of the CMCB is to develop advanced light microscopy for the general benefit of WMS, and other researchers at Warwick. The award from the Wolfson Foundation, made in challenging financial times, funds specialized space for advanced light microscopy in the new centre and recognizes the strength of the scientific case for the CMCB."
